David Brown, DC

David E. Brown, D.C., is the Director of the Virginia Department of Health Professions, which licenses and regulates health professionals in Virginia, and issues over 400,000 licenses in 62 fields.

In addition to establishing a chiropractic practice in Charlottesville in 1982, Dr. Brown is a former member of the Virginia Board of Medicine and a former Mayor of the City of Charlottesville. He also was the Chief Operating Officer for Edison2, a Lynchburg-based technology start-up that won the prestigious 2010 Automotive XPRIZE competition for a 100 mpg car, and served as the special assistant to David Toscano, Democratic Leader of the Virginia House of Delegates.

A native of Virginia's Eastern Shore, Dr. Brown is a graduate of the University of Virginia and Western States Chiropractic College.

I am the Director of Ambulatory Quality Improvement for the Department of Family Medicine and hold the role of Co-Medical Director. Svetlana Goldman, PharmD, BCACP, CDE

Dr. Goldman is a board-certified ambulatory care clinical pharmacist at the University of Virginia Heart & Vascular Center. Her primary practice sites are the heart and vascular medication optimization clinic and an internal medicine clinic. Dr. Goldman works under a collaborative practice agreement at the heart center providing chronic disease state management with a focus on anticoagulation management along with diabetes, hypertension, hyperlipidemia, and smoking cessation. She also practices in the multidisciplinary post-myocardial infarction clinic and an internal medicine discharge clinic to improve transition of care processes. She serves as an active member in the outpatient anticoagulation committee. She received her PharmD from University of Pittsburgh in 2012. She completed a PGY1 pharmacy residency focused in primary care at the Charles George Veterans Affairs Medical Center in Asheville, NC.

HoChong Gilles, DNP, FNP-C

HoChong Gilles has been working in the hepatology field since 2001. She obtained a BS in Biology & Nursing and Master's in Nursing from Virginia Commonwealth University. She recently graduated in May 2018 with a Doctorate in Nursing Practice from the University of Virginia.
She is very active within the American Association for the Study of Liver Diseases. HoChong is the immediate past Chair of the Hepatology Associates Committee. She is the founder and Chair of the Hepatology Associates Special and member of the AASLD Governing Board. HoChong is currently serving her term as President of Virginia Council of Nurse Practitioners and is the Program Manager for Hepatology and Liver Transplant at the McGuire Veterans Affairs Medical Center in Richmond, Virginia.

Andrew Whitman, PharmD

Dr. Andrew Whitman is a clinical pharmacist in oncology and palliative care at the University of Virginia Health System in Charlottesville, VA. He completed a combined Doctor of Pharmacy degree and Certificate of Aging Studies at Virginia Commonwealth University School of Pharmacy. Dr. Whitman completed his postgraduate training at the University of Virginia Health System in oncology pharmacy followed by a year as a palliative care specialist at the University of Maryland Baltimore Washington Medical Center. His main research interests include deprescribing in older cancer patients and innovative approaches to supportive care.
